Handmade Painted Abstract Bookmark

This is an abstract bookmark that I painted using acrylic paints. I was in the mood for a bit of color so I had a bit of fun with it. Sometimes all you need is some paint and acrylic paper and to be in the mood to just have fun.

Simple Friendship Note Card

There's always that friend that you can't live without... this is a great little note card to send to that person to let them know just how special they are.  It's a simple design with a great message :

--One of my greatest blessings is having you for a friend.

I think that anybody who gets a card bearing these sentiments will definitely know that their frindship is treasured...

Embossed Thank You - Flat Card

Flat cards are a nice way to say 'thank you'. I made this one by layering coordinating paper on top of brown card stock that I'd embossed 'thank you' on the bottom of, and added a dimensional flower sticker on top. I matched it with a really cool envelope and now you get to say thank you with a little pizazz...

Funky Flower Note Card

I call this one the 'Funky Flower' note card, not perfect but you get the picture... I just listed it on Etsy. It's done in acrylic on watercolor paper, trimmed and matted with a complimentary paper, and mounted onto the front of the note card.

Simple Thank You Card

This is a simple thank you card done using linen card stock, a 'thank you stamp', and a butterfly cut from some fabric scraps. Sometimes a clean and simple look is the way to go.

Using Decorative Napkins To Make Cards And Tags

I love decorative napkins. I think they add a lot to a table setting and they can really help to set a theme for a party. Well, I finally figured out what to do with those left over napkins that never get used -- use them on cards of course.

Find an image on the napkin that you like and cut it out. Then peel the (usually two) layers of backing papers off. This leaves you with a single(very thin) layer with the image you want on it. Lightly spray the back of the image with a spray adhesive and mount it onto card stock. This will give you a sturdy piece to work with, and you will be able to place it on your cards and tags.

Simple Card Design Using Ribbon and Stickers

Sometimes the most simple designs are the best. They aren't cluttered and they offer simple style and elegance to the look and feel of the card. For this note card I used a patterned ribbon(1/2 inch) to lay horizontally across the front of a light weight card blank, and simply added a small floral sticker on top as embellishment.

Simple Stamped Images On Note Cards

Simple images stamped onto the front of an ivory water color paper note card with a deckle edge makes an elegant statement. The image you choose and the the weight and texture of the paper that you use to stamp on can make all the difference.

For these cards I used Strathmore ivory card blanks with a deckle edge (all the work was already done -- no need to cut and score), chose a stamped image that I liked and stamped it onto the front of the note cards.

Cut And Paste The Old Fashoined Way

I still like doing some things the old fashioned way. I know that there are wonderful die cut machines out there that make our lives so much easier, but I still enjoy picking up a pair of scissors and cutting out the pieces for my design. It gives me time to think and enjoy the process. It may take me longer to complete the card, but I have a lot of fun along the way!

Using Photographs On Cards

I have a friend that takes awesome pictures, and she's very good at capturing 'the moment'. Her shots are perfect for making cards. I decided to make a set of cards for her using her images. I kept this card simple and clutter free so that the picture remained the focal point of the card.

I know that there are many of you out there that have pictures that capture that perfect moment in time, don't leave them laying around or stuffed in a shoe box somewhere -- print them and use them on a card!

Flat Note Cards For Christmas and the Holidays

I like the idea of not having to send out a lengthy Christmas or Holiday letter. It takes a lot for me to sum up the events of an entire year! My solution to this is to make simple flat note cards that have the Christmas and Holiday spirit as their theme and send them out instead. This way I can write a brief note filled with well wishes and because they're done on card stock, they can double as the card as well.

More Simple Touches

I think that it's always important to say 'thank you' in an extra special way. I always keep a stack of 'thank you' cards handy just in case. Sometimes you find yourself saying 'thank you' just because someone said something nice that made your day (on a day when you really needed to hear something nice).

This is a cute card that let's you say 'thank you' with simplistic style.

Paper and Fabric Together

On a lot of the cards I make I like to use both paper and fabric together for a little mixed media magic. On this art card I combined coordinating paper and fabric to create her outfit and I used handmade paper for the background. Again I kept the design simple, and let the different shades of brown, the patterns and the textures do all the work to create the effect.
