Layering Handmade Papers To Create Interesting Effects

Layering handmade papers can create very interesting effects. Most times when we think of layering we focus on the background of the piece. In this case I decided to do a watercolor wash for the background and then layer the papers to create the figures in the piece, giving them some depth and dimension.

I adore your handmade products. I have often thought of creating handmade paper but it kinda scares me. I guess because I don't know where to start. Any ideas?

Thanks alta! At first I was afraid to tackle making paper too, but once I tried it, it really wasn't that bad. There are lots of tutorials out there. This is one that I used:
